The Head of Fraud is a senior, first line of defence role responsible for the bank’s framework for fraud management across both the Retail- and Wholesale- businesses in line with ING’s global fraud standards and policies.

ING has a zero tolerance for fraud. This role is responsible for both external- and internal- fraud management end-to-end including predicting and identifying the fraud risks applicable to ING, designing and implementing data driven prevention and detection strategies to reduce fraud loss and risk, and supporting customers and law enforcement through effective investigation and recovery processes.

The role leads a team of fraud analysts and operational employees and is responsible for developing and maintaining a high performing, engaged and professional team who are seen as trusted advisors to internal and external stakeholders.

The Head of Fraud works closely with the global ING Retail COO responsible for Fraud, IT Security and Business Controls and the global fraud team across the various countries in which ING operates.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Predicting and identifying fraud risks including fraud trends, fraud threats and developing and maintaining a fraud risk & control log.
  • Preventing fraud through fraud awareness, defining and implementing fraud controls to prevent fraud occurring, both considering our internal systems and processes and also our external customer channels.
  • Detect fraud through the management and improvement of fraud detection systems and processes.
  • Responding to fraud events including accountable for the end-to-end customer management of fraud events, ensuring fraud is appropriately recorded and reported and liasing with stakeholders in the response actions and recovering losses wherever possible. 
  • Provision of data and evidence to support key control testing of fraud controls.
  • Internal Fraud Framework: Managing the risk of internal fraud through through prediction, prevention, detection and response to fraud risks and controls
  • Stakeholder engagement: Influencing stakeholders to ensure fraud controls are properly implemented, executed and that there is appropriate awareness of fraud risks and the fraud profile of ING in Italy
  • Balancing outcomes: Develop fraud control solutions that balance multiple outcomes including minimising customer friction, enhancing productivity and reducing costs
  • Leadership: Leading a team to increase engagement and drive high performance

 

 

Technical skills, education:

  • 15+ years’ experience in fraud management in financial services with relevant experience within Retail
  • Used to work in a complex and international environment
  • Excellent knowledge of fraud prevention and detection systems in a real-time environment
  • Proven experience in implementing anti-fraud tools and framework
  • Designing customer authentication and authorization controls for front-end digital systems
  • Ability to design and implement fraud control frameworks
  • Fraud data analytics
  • Understanding of process definitions as well customer journey and experience terms, measurements and usage
  • Understanding of card schemes, dispute and chargeback processes
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills also in English language
  • Fluen in English (written and spoken)
