Job Overview and Responsibilities:

Perimeter: 

• To lead industrial investment projects (mainly modifications of existing installations, demolition but also minor new installations) within the safety, cost, schedule and quality objectives.
• For projects in Spinetta Site, Current (<1 M€) or exceptionally Medium (<10 M€)..
• To perform and to be accountable for cost, schedule and quality objectives.
• To work in parallel on some different projects

 

Mission and Main Goals:  

• To manage: the coordination between the different stakeholder (internal and external), the control of the engineering deliverables (completely outsourced), the development of technical purchasing activities, the interface with buyer and construction supervisors, the activities related with the project compliance with the Italian laws and regulations.
• To collaborate in, or to manage the coordination and the timing of the whole project construction activities.
• To optimize the project investment requirement through generation of new ideas or alternatives (conceptual or technical), leveraging technical skills and standard methods.

 

Main output:

• Basic engineering and execution of project cost estimation and schedule
• Mechanical completion of the installations within timing & budget settled.
• Effectiveness of people internal and external involved in each project
• Quality to allow efficient commissioning and start-up
• Make periodic safety, cost and schedule controls and the related short reports  
• Control and validation of payments to the suppliers (engineering, equipment and other materials or services).
• Specific technical analysis and studies
• Constructability & methods of construction
• Tender technical specification and Purchasing management for equipment and  for piping materials and steel structures.
• Control of general quality and safety, in the design and during the construction
• Coordination of all the law documentation to obtain the necessary construction and production permits

Education and Experience

• Degree in mechanical or chemical engineering, or similar
• Good knowledge and experience of minimum 3-4 years in performing detailed mechanical engineering (layout, equipment, piping)

 

Skills

• General and basic knowledge of instrumental, automation and low voltage electrical engineering.
• Basic knowledge of civil and steel structure engineering -  cost and scheduling estimation and the related control criteria - main law construction permit requirements

 

Project management and technical abilities required:

• Lead a project team of Solvay specialists, partially dedicated
• Lead, coordinate and manage different (5-8) engineering companies
• Lead optimization works, layout definition, project contents definition evaluating the best solution to fit the effective requests.
• To manage many projects and sub-projects at the same time.
• Discuss with the owner the project objectives
• Develop the project execution plans, including procurement in coordination with Buyer
• Coordinate all the external resources (engineering and erection) required for the project
• Coordinate and manage the interface with electrical and instrumental / IA specialists.
• Perform a constructability analysis, finding optimized solutions with regards to Site constraints
• Prepare tender technical specification for all mechanical equipment (static and rotating)
• Good knowledge of erection techniques, engineering construction standards for equipment, piping and supports, in order to be able to check and validate the mechanical engineering deliverables
• Involve maintenance or reliability experts on specific project concerns
• Coordinate the flow of engineering documents, erection materials to feed the construction activities
• Monitor construction activities progress and take corrective actions when necessary
• Project communication: inform the owner about project progress and any plans for significant changes in project implementation, preparing recommendations concerning decisions beyond the scope of the owner.
• Italian mother-toungue, good technical English, French is a plus
